When attenuated (dead) cancer cells are given at the same time as the immune support with either vitalethine (VSSV) or its sulfenic acid (VSOH) delivery form, some very interesting results were obtained. The membrane ghosts (dead cancer cell membranes) actually completely inhibited improvements in survival due to vitalethine (VSSV), whereas the response to the form that releases the sulfenic acid (VSOH) was unaffected by the dead cancer cells. This probably means that the oxidized cancer cell membranes have formed lipid epoxides, known to poison the thiol (VSH) form generated from vitalethine, but not its sulfenic acid form (VSOH).
