The sulfenate-linked benzylcarbamate dimer (SLBCD) presents vitalethine in its already-activated, essentially disproportiated or sulfenic acid form, a thiolperoxide (VSOH) that appears far more stable than more common peroxide (HOOH). Complete survival was observed at an optimal dose of about 100 picograms/kg, a picogram being 10E-12 grams. This thiolperoxide (VSOH) is thought to be the intermediate first formed by vitaletheine's monooxygenase receptor and is critical to the subsequent formation of a sulfenyl iodide, thought to be the actual iodinating intermediate for synthesizing thyroid hormone, naturally (Knight's thyroid seminar).
