Examining the federal guidelines for workplace exposure to various elements of the periodic table gives interesting alternatives to carcinogenic stainless steel. Magnesium (Mg) and titanium (Ti) are stronger and lighter, and far less toxic than the nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), and chromium (Cr) elements in most stainless steel alloys. Interestingly, microwave radiation destroys vitamin B12, and may release carcinogenic cobalt from the otherwise stable, porphyrin-like ring of this vitamin. Thus, microwaving red meat or brewer's yeast, and our brains with cell phones, may be far more dangerous than just red meat, brewers yeast, or even our brains, alone.
