The NIOSH handbook lists sensitizing dermatitis, allergic asthma, pneumonitis, nasal cavities, and cancer as the consequences of nickel exposure. One has to wonder why, when the “US” government knows about nickel's dangers, that the FDA requires that our foods, pharmaceuticals, and beverages be processed in carcinogenic stainless steel.
